Job summary

Apple Inc. in San Diego seeks a Software Engineer for the Deployment Platform team to build a high-scale deployment system across multi- and hybrid-cloud environments.

You’ll implement declarative pipelines, GitOps-style tooling, canary analysis, and robust REST/gRPC/GraphQL APIs. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with teams, taking projects from design through delivery with a bias toward reliability and developer-friendly solutions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of industry experience building and operating production software.
• Strong programming skills in Java for large-scale services.
• Solid foundation in software architecture, system design, and problem solving.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and cloud architecture (e.g., Cassandra, Kafka, Redis).
• Experience designing REST, gRPC, and GraphQL APIs.
• Solid understanding of micro-services and cloud-native patterns.
• Ability to work across the full lifecycle of a service — API design, implementation, testing, and operations.
• Hands-on experience with service deployment.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Deployment Platform Engineering: design, build, and own features of the deployment platform — including the deployment DSL, GitOps operator, and pipeline orchestration that power deployments in various environments.
• Progressive Delivery: build and improve phased rollouts, automated canary analysis, and metric gates that integrate with metric providers to keep deployments safe.
• Integrations & Reliability: integrate with the broader deployment ecosystem (e.g., Spinnaker) and build reliable, observable services on top of distributed systems technologies like Cassandra, Kafka, Redis.
• Developer Experience & Intelligence: deliver clean REST/gRPC/GraphQL APIs, tooling, and capabilities — including AI-powered continuous delivery intelligence — that help developers understand, troubleshoot, and improve their deployments.
