Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer in Cary, NC to own platform capabilities end-to-end, from requirements gathering to production deployment. You will drive multi-quarter initiatives, align engineering, security, and SRE partners, and evolve platform-as-a-product offerings for internal developers.

You’ll mentor engineers, promote security-first patterns, and balance open-source with in-house tooling to scale with our growth and protect users across Apple’s cloud footprint.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building cloud infrastructure and platforms in production.
• Experience shipping platforms as products for internal developers.
• Advanced Kubernetes and multi-cluster/region ownership.
• Infrastructure as Code with Crossplane and Terraform at scale.
• Security-first architecture with Policy as Code (Kyverno/OPA).
• Public cloud expertise across AWS, GCP, Azure; multi-cloud preference.
• GitOps and CI/CD with modern tooling; declarative promotion.
• Strong networking, Linux internals, and observability fundamentals.
• Experience with Istio/Traefik/Linkerd and monitoring stacks.
• Mentors engineers and aligns solutions with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design and delivery of platform capabilities from requirements to production.
• Set technical direction on multi-quarter initiatives with cross-functional partners.
• Architect platform-as-a-product offerings for internal developers.
• Lead security-first patterns and policy-as-code controls across the platform.
• Balance open-source and in-house tooling to scale with growth.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through reviews and coaching.
• Scale technologies and shepherd adoption from experiment to production-grade.
• Represent the team in cross-organization initiatives to maintain cohesion.
