Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Deployed Support Specialist to support a Navy mission with 100% onsite presence in Washington, DC or Norfolk, VA. The role focuses on advanced network engineering, system configuration, deployment planning support, and hands-on troubleshooting for mission-critical communications systems.

The candidate will troubleshoot enterprise networks, administer routers/switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, DNS, AD, and Exchange, and support IA training and deployment readiness

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years of deployed technical support or field network operations experience.
• Experience with Cisco routing and switching (Layer 2/3).
• Ability to troubleshoot and configure enterprise systems (OSPF/EIGRP/BGP).
• Knowledge of TCP/UDP networking fundamentals.
• Experience in regulated/military environments preferred.
• Willingness to travel, including OCONUS.
• Must possess: CompTIA Security+ CE (IAT II); OEM network support certs such as Cisco CCNA (preferred).
• Active Secret Clearance.

• Deliver rapid troubleshooting during live deployments.
• Administer enterprise network components (Routers, switches, IDS/IPS, DNS, AD, Exchange).
• Configure, install, maintain, and troubleshoot deployed systems for USMC units.
• Assist IA training for deploying units and support deployment readiness processes.
• Coordinate hardware/software procurement and transport; obtain travel clearances for OCONUS missions.
• Document deployment outcomes and conduct post‑deployment reviews.
• Collaborate with regional network engineering and operations teams.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Deployed Support Specialist to support a Navy mission through 100% onsite presence in Washington, DC or Norfolk, VA. The Deployed Support Specialist will provide advanced network engineering, system configuration, deployment planning support, and hands‑on troubleshooting for mission‑critical communications systems supporting Navy deployed units.

Responsibilities of the Deployed Support Specialist include:

• Provide network technical advice and assistance during planning phases of deployments/exercises
• Deliver rapid, expert troubleshooting and coordination of solutions during live execution phases
• Support and administer enterprise network components, including:
  • Routers & switches
  • Firewalls
  • Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
  • DNS, Active Directory (AD), and Exchange
• Perform system configuration, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for deployed USMC units
• Assist in developing and delivering Information Assurance (IA) training for deploying units.
• Provide direct support to the D‑30 deployment readiness process
• Identify required hardware (HW) and software (SW) for each mission and coordinate procurement and transport
• Coordinate foreign country clearance requests, obtain visas, and ensure readiness for OCONUS travel
• Document deployment outcomes using government‑provided templates and conduct post‑deployment reviews
• Manage the return, restock, and accountability of unused/reusable equipment
• Support import/export requirements and obtain necessary permits for mission systems
• Collaborate with regional leads across 14 regions consisting of network engineering and operations personnel
• Engage regularly with traveling field/base network engineers supporting military network environments

Qualifications of the Deployed Support Specialist include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 4+ years of experience providing deployed technical support or field network operations
• Experience with Cisco routing and switching, including Layer 2/3 technologies
• Ability to troubleshoot and configure enterprise systems including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP routing protocols
• Knowledge of TCP/UDP networking fundamentals
• Experience supporting technical or highly regulated environments, preferably military networks
• Willingness to travel, including OCONUS
• Must possess:
  • CompTIA Security+ CE (IAT Level II)
  • OEM network support certification, such as Cisco CCNA (preferred)
• Experience with Cisco-based environments, routing, switching, and deployed communications support
• Active Secret Clearance

Compensation for the Systems Administrator includes:

• Salary: $60,000 - 65,000 **depending on experience**
