The City of Alexandria, Virginia is seeking an experienced Departmental Safety Coordinator within the T&ES Department to lead safety programs and compliance efforts citywide. The role oversees emergency preparedness, risk assessments, and safety training, while developing and maintaining safety policies and SOPs.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree and 3+ years in industrial health and safety.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.
• Experience with public works, transportation, construction, and environmental services is preferred.

Aufgaben

• Lead emergency response planning, severe weather preparedness, continuity of operations, and post-incident recovery.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local safety requirements; monitor regulatory changes and update policies.
• Conduct job hazard analyses, workplace inspections, and field observations; recommend corrective actions and monitor completion.
• Lead investigations of injuries, vehicle accidents, equipment damage, near misses, and environmental incidents; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop, deliver and maintain safety training, orientation programs, toolbox talks, and leadership training; ensure certifications are up to date.
• Develop and continuously improve department-wide occupational safety program; promote safety ownership at all levels.
