A leading company in healthcare staffing is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee clinical laboratory operations. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's Degree and at least four years of supervisory experience, demonstrating critical thinking and leadership skills. Responsibilities include quality control oversight, staff management, and leading process improvements in a fast-paced environment.
Ideal candidates for this position will have previous clinical lab experience. They should demonstrate an understanding of the theory and scientific principles of laboratory testing, as well as the technical, procedural, and problem-solving aspects. The candidate will correlate abnormal laboratory data with pathological states, determine the validity of test results, and assess the need for additional tests. Responsibilities include monitoring and verifying quality controls, reviewing test results, reference ranges, specimen requirements, and other pertinent information from authorized sources. The role may involve functioning as an educator or consultant within a medical laboratory setting, providing instruction and training in theory, technical skills, safety protocols, and laboratory test protocols. The candidate will participate in and possibly lead continuing education and professional development activities for laboratory personnel. They will be involved in decisions related to quality control, quality assurance, instrument and methodology selection, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, safety procedures, purchasing, inventory control, test utilization, and data management. Investigating problems and recommending improvements are also part of the role. The candidate will supervise technical and administrative functions, act as a technical resource, and collaborate to achieve organizational goals. Responsibilities include staffing, scheduling, leadership, training, orientation, and ensuring cross coverage. They will develop effective work teams, identify procedural improvements, and lead process improvement projects. Additional duties may be assigned. **Education:** Bachelor's Degree required. Knowledge of supervision, training/development, public relations, and project management practices is necessary. Additional supervisory or leadership experience may offset degree requirements. **Licensure/Certification/Registration:** None required. **Complexity of Work:** The role requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently in stressful environments. **Required Experience:** Minimum of four years supervisory experience. Healthcare experience in a large organization is preferred.
