Job summary

Amcor is seeking a seasoned Converting (pouching) department leader to oversee safety, quality, productivity and cost in a large plant. You will supervise 4 supervisors and 100+ hourly employees, driving a strong safety culture while aligning with company goals.

Responsibilities include leading KPI programs, CI efforts, and ensuring SOCs and GMP standards are strictly followed, with active collaboration with plant leadership.

  • Safety-focused leadership with factory floor experience.
  • Experience leading teams in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of 5S and GMP practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Converting (pouching) department including safety, quality, productivity, cost and culture.
  • Oversee Performance Control System (PCS) and KPI audits; lead department meetings.
  • Drive CI initiatives and ensure SOCs are up to date and followed.
  • Supervise Shift Supervisors; handle hiring, performance, recognition and discipline.
  • Ensure customer complaints are investigated and corrective actions implemented.
  • Maintain department budgeting, staffing plans and equipment utilization.

This role is located in a large plant, has 4 supervisors as direct reports, and has oversight to more than 100 hourly employees.WHAT YOU GET TO DOActs as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the EHS Manager to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.Establishes, maintains, communicates, and enforces safety, quality, waste and productivity standards to meet plant goals. Maintains department housekeeping per 5S and GMP (Good Mfg. Practices) standards. Maintains quality standards consistent with customer’s and the company’s requirements.Oversees and manages the Performance Control System (PCS) for the department including establishing key performance indicators (KPI’s), auditing Supervisor/Operator shift meetings, and leading department meetings. Ensures that standards are met and action item registers are maintained to document, communicate, and eliminate exceptions.Works with the Plant Leadership team to determine the greatest continuous improvement opportunities in the department. Assists with the execution of CI efforts to address the opportunities and ensures standards are updated and adhered to following close out of each improvement team.Provides feedback to the department and individual employees on performance against standards.Supervises salaried staff of Shift Supervisors. Is responsible for all elements of supervision including hiring, terminations, recognition, discipline, training, employee relations, performance management and salary administration.Ensures that Best Practice teams related to process discipline have appropriate representation. Implements changes based on recommendations of the BP team where applicable.Ensures that investigations are completed for any injuries, incidents and near misses and that follow-up action items are completed in a timely manner.Recommends capital projects and ensures needs, ROI and KPI related to these projects are documented and submitted per Amcor policies.Ensures customer complaints are investigated, and corrective actions are implemented and evaluated for effectiveness according to established standards. This includes staff involvement and communication of the issues to crews.Ensures that accurate Standard Operating Conditions (SOC’s) are in place and followed.
