Job Description Summary:

Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences, the Department Chair, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, will deliver high-quality instruction, advance research, and promote the program’s growth and visibility. The role involves scholarly research, securing funding, fostering interdisciplinary studies, marketing the program, and building community and institutional partnerships.

The Department Chair will also mentor students, develop curricula, and create experiential learning opportunities to prepare graduates for careers in academia, ministry, non-profit leadership, and public service.

• Strong research record in religious studies
• Leadership and strategic vision
• Experience in program development and marketing
• Proven ability to secure external funding
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Essential Duties:

• Manage departmental functions, including courses, budget, and student advising
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
• Lead curriculum development and research initiatives
• Engage in scholarly publications and conferences
• Develop strategies to increase program visibility and enrollment
• Mentor students and foster community engagement
• Secure external research funding
• Organize academic and community events
• Participate in university service and committees

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Religious Studies, Theology, or related field
