Job Description
This role supports the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in conducting assessments for Veterans leaving military service or applying for disability benefits from the VA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the preparation of reports and written documentation as required by the department, company, and State and Federal agencies.
- Maintain proper, detailed, and accurate dental records.
- Travel between clinics to work, as needed.
- Be willing to be on-call, as scheduled, by the Dental Director/Assistant Dental Director.
- Assist Clinic Manager/Dental Manager in supervising the dental staff and ensuring clinic compliance with State and Federal guidelines.
- Meet productivity goals set by Borrego Health and work with dental staff to achieve them.
- Maintain a professional demeanor with patients, staff, and administration.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Dental Director/Assistant Dental Director to meet clinic or organizational goals.
- Supervise Dental Assistants.
- Understand and promote the organization's commitment to high-quality patient care in a patient-centered environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Clinical Functions:
- Examine, diagnose, and treat dental conditions to provide optimal care.
- Consult with patients/parents/guardians regarding dental status and treatment options.
- Educate patients about oral conditions, treatment options, and explain risks, benefits, and alternatives.
- Treat dental conditions for patients of all ages or provide appropriate referrals if unable to treat certain services.
- Treat soft/hard tissue diseases of the oral cavity, perform oral surgeries, prosthetic treatments, and design orthodontic appliances.
- Provide quality care within the scope of practice outlined by law.
- Deliver care according to established standards and community guidelines.
Education/Experience:
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from an accredited program.
- State license to practice dentistry.
- Experience with Veteran care or federal health organizations preferred.
Technological Skills:
- Experience with Electronic Health Records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, no weekends or holidays.
Additional Requirements:
- Current BLS Certification.
- Immunizations including TB and Hep B; other vaccinations strongly recommended.
