Salary Range: $110,000.00 To $130,000.00 Annually

Position Description

The Staff Dentist is a provider in the dental programs responsible for comprehensive dental care in the dental department. The Staff Dentist will perform provide care and determine treatment plans for all dental patients. He/She will perform dental initials, follow-up, emergency, periodontic, restorative, endodontic, prosthodontics, and surgical dental care. The Staff Dentist will participate in dental quality of care initiatives and support the day to day operations of the dental clinic and dental mobile unit. The dentist will split their weekly sessions between the clinic and mobile unit based on the operational needs of the clinic.

Essential Job Functions

The following duties are mandatory requirements of the job:

• Supervise the performance of dental assistants performing their job during patient treatment
• Perform examination of the head, neck, oral cavity, teeth, and their supporting structures
• Assimilate a modality of treatment of each patient to restore form and function to dentition, treating all existing disease.
• Assimilate a schedule of treatment and hygiene regimen to prevent oral disease processes.
• Perform restorative procedures listed but not limited to pulp capping (direct and indirect), amalgam restoration (with and without pins), composite restorations and cosmetic bonding including diastema closure.
• Perform periodontic procedures listed but not limited to periodontal examination, scaling and root planning, curettage and periodontal surgical procedures.
• Perform prosthetic procedures listed but not limited to crown and bridge preparation, fabrication of temporary restorations, preparation and placement of intra canal posts, fabrication of maxillary and mandibular complete and partial dentures, preparation and fabrication of porcelain laminates.
• Perform oral surgical procedures listed but not limited to simple extraction of one or more teeth, extraction of teeth and their roots requiring elevation of a flap and or sectioning of teeth, alveoplasty, alveoctomy, tuberosity reduction, biopsy of soft and hard tissue and the removal of epulus
• Perform endodontic procedures, including molar root canals.

Other Responsibilities

The following duties are to be performed as assigned by the supervisor:

• Participate in CQI activities.
• Participate in multidisciplinary task forces, committees, and projects.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

Graduate of United States Dental School, Board Certified, and possess a NY State Dental License.

Special skills and knowledge

• Excellent computer skills necessary (demonstrated ability to use word-processing, or data base programs). Be able to quickly learn the functionality of eClinicalworks EMR and Dentrix
• Good customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Bilingual (French/Spanish) preferred
• Experience with HIV/AIDS population
• Language skills: typing, good spelling, punctuation, grammar and oral communication. Must be able to listen to complex medical information and summarize completely and concisely
• Maintain HIPAA Confidentiality
• Willingness to be able to accommodate and provide services outside normal business hours
