Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures, including preventive and corrective services.
  • Examine teeth, gums, and tissues using diagnostic tools to evaluate health and plan treatments.
  • Analyze dental needs and present periodontal, restorative, and maintenance treatment plans to patients.
  • Administer anesthetics for pain control.
  • Design, prepare, and fit prosthodontic appliances such as crowns, bridges, and removable dentures.
  • Perform simple and surgical tooth extractions.
  • Perform root canal therapy on anterior, premolar, and selected molar teeth.
  • Prescribe medications as needed to control disease and alleviate pain.
  • Follow OSHA universal precautions and HIPAA/OSHA standards in all patient care.
  • Document all clinical and electronic interactions in the electronic dental record.
  • Collaborate with DAs, dental hygienists, dentists, clerical staff, and administrators.
  • Participate in dental center improvements geared toward operational excellence.
  • All other duties assigned by Administrator, Clinical Manager, and Operations Manager.

Job description

Summary: Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, the primary function is to provide diagnostic, preventive, and corrective dental services at a high level of quality and efficacy. Additional functions include administrative tasks related to patient care, such as documenting all clinical and electronic interactions with patients in the electronic dental record while ensuring compliance with OSHA and HIPAA standards. The dentist is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Dental Center and the Funds.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures, as well as provide preventive and corrective services.
  • Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic equipment to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments.
  • Analyze and evaluate dental needs to determine changes and trends in patterns of dental disease.
  • Formulate and present periodontal, restorative, and maintenance treatment plans and effectively present these plans to patients.
  • Administer anesthetics for pain control.
  • Design, prepare, and fit prosthodontic appliances such as crowns, bridges, and removable dentures.
  • Perform simple and surgical tooth extractions.
  • Perform root canal therapy on anterior, premolar, and selected molar teeth.
  • Perform at or above published productivity and quality standards.
  • Perform basic restorative procedures including composite and amalgam fillings.
  • Prescribe medications as needed to control disease and alleviate pain.
  • In compliance with OSHA safety standards, follow universal precautions to protect themselves and their patients from unprotected exposure to infectious diseases and other harmful agents.
  • Communicate appropriately, accurately, and timely in the electronic dental record to all sub-departments involved in patient care, including clerical staff, DAs, dental hygienists, dentists, and administrative staff.
  • Participate in any and all dental center improvements geared toward operational excellence.
  • All other duties assigned by Administrator, Clinical Manager, and Operations Manager.
Qualifications

Current NYS Dental License, Current DEA Registration Certificate.

Requirements

Documentation of current HBV vaccination status. Current Professional Liability Insurance with 1M/3M coverage. Computer skills must include Word, Excel, and the ability to provide accurate and timely documentation in an electronic dental record.
