Job summary

Morris Heights Health Center (MHHC) seeks a compassionate Dentist to join our School-Based Health Program and expand access to oral healthcare for children and adolescents.

The successful candidate will perform exams, preventive and restorative care, coordinate referrals, and educate students and families within school-based settings. NY license required; DDS/DMD from an accredited school; FQHC experience preferred.

  • Current and unrestricted New York State dental license.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents preferred.
  • Community health, FQHC, pediatric, or school-based dental experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient-engagement skills.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, patient-centered care and reducing oral-health disparities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive dental examinations, assessments, and treatment planning.
  • Deliver preventive and restorative dental services, including cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, and other appropriate procedures.
  • Diagnose and manage common oral health conditions affecting children and adolescents.
  • Provide education to students and families regarding oral hygiene, nutrition, and preventive dental care.
  • Identify patients requiring specialty services and coordinate appropriate referrals and follow-up.
  • Respond to urgent and emergent dental needs within the school-based setting.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with dental, medical, nursing, behavioral health, school, and operational teams.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory readiness initiatives.
  • Support school-based oral health education, outreach, and community engagement activities.

Morris Heights Health Center (MHHC) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dentist to join our School-Based Health Program and help expand access to high-quality oral healthcare for children and adolescents.

For decades, Morris Heights Health Center has served communities throughout the Bronx and beyond as a trusted Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). MHHC provides comprehensive, culturally responsive healthcare across a growing network of community health centers and school-based health sites, offering primary care, dental care, behavioral health, specialty services, women’s health, pediatrics, and other essential services. About the Opportunity

This role is ideal for a dentist who enjoys working with young patients, values preventive care, and wants to make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. As a School-Based Health Dentist, you will:

What We’re Looking For
  • DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
  • Current and unrestricted New York State dental license
  • Ability to meet MHHC credentialing and privileging requirements
  • Experience working with children and adolescents preferred
  • Community health, FQHC, pediatric, or school-based dental experience preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient-engagement skills
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, patient-centered care and reducing oral-health disparities
