Job summary

CommWell Health is hiring a Dental Assistant to join a rural NC team dedicated to compassionate, patient-centered care for decades. Responsibilities include preparing trays, operating sterilization equipment, ensuring sterility, and assisting clinicians during exams while maintaining OSHA-compliant environments.

Travel to other CommWell sites may be required. Required certifications include DA I/II, radiography, infection control, and BLS, plus a valid NC driver’s license.

Qualifications

• DA I or DA II certification required.
• Dental Assistant Certification required.
• Radiography certification required.
• Infection Control/Sterilization certification required.
• Medical Emergencies Dental Office certification required.
• Coronal Polishing certification required.
• Valid NC driver's license required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare trays with standard dental equipment for patient turnover.
• Operate, monitor, and clean sterilization equipment.
• Perform infection control tests to maintain sterility.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments following ADA protocols.
• Follow OSHA guidelines and assist during examinations.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist dental staff during exams.
• Clean and sterilize instruments, manage expiration labeling and stock checks.
• Maintain exam rooms and treatment areas; assist with cross-site training.
• Travel to other CommWell sites as needed.

Education

Dental Assistant Certification

Medical Emergencies Dental Office Certification

Coronal Polishing Certification

Current NC Driver’s License

Job description

What You'll Do

• Responsible preparing trays with standard dental equipment to ensure effective patient turnover.
• Operate, monitor, and clean sterilization equipment.
• Perform daily and weekly infection control test to ensure optimum sterility.
• Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments using ADA protocols.
• Observe and maintain all OSHA guidelines and standards.
• Assists in preparing the patient for examination by medical staff, assists during the examination as needed.
• Assists in cleaning and sterilizing instruments used in the clinic, assuring labeling as to expiration dates and checking current status.
• Assists in the general maintenance and disinfection of the patient examination rooms, work-up area and equipment.
• Review log books, provide training or assistance to other sites.
• Train and sign off dental colleagues for sterilization competencies at all dental locations.
• Participates in continuing education seminars on and off-site as feasible.
• Participate in Eagle Excellence activities.
• Travel to other CWH sites to assist as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• High School diploma or GED.
• DA I or DA II.
• BLS Certificate from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Dental Assistant Certification.
• Radiography (X-Ray) Certification.

• Medical Emergencies Dental Office Certification.
• Coronal Polishing Certification.
• Current NC Driver’s License.

Preferred

• Min one (1) Year experience as Dental Asst I.
