JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Dental Patient Access Registrar

DEPARTMENT: Dental Front Desk

SUPERVISED BY: Site Operations Manager

SUMMARY:

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for greeting incoming patients and visitors with excellent customer service. This position requires the employee to distribute and collect necessary paperwork, enter accurate demographics and insurance information, collect copayments, review balances in conjunction with billing staff, and offer all patients sliding scale applications. The Site Operations Manager directly supervises this position.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school graduate required.
  2. Certification as Medical Office Assistant and/or Medical Assistant.
  3. Previous experience in a medical or dental office setting required.
  4. Must understand Medicare/Medicaid and insurance plans.
  5. Must understand insurance verification, insurance eligibility, and insurance payers.
  6. Confident positive manner and appearance.
  7. Strong customer service experience.
  8. Must maintain a professional attitude under pressure.
  9. Employ correct grammatical English and write legibly in order to complete appropriate paperwork.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Greet patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
  2. Pay attention to detail in regards to all aspects of job requirements.
  3. Enter/verify patient demographics correctly in the system.
  4. Ensure that patients are arrived in a timely manner.
  5. Enter/verify all patient insurance information correctly in the system.
  6. Display understanding of the process of triage/walk-ins and same-day appointments.
  7. Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and commercial insurance plan benefits.
  8. Ensure that all Sliding Fee Scale patients are properly screened.
  9. Ensure to collect all co-pays and self-pay charges at the time of visit.
  10. Attend to all patients that are waiting in the lobby.
  11. Assist patients with checking in on the patient kiosk.
  12. Assist patients with signing in on the patient portal.
  13. Review daily payment posting for accuracy.
  14. Keep cash drawer locked and accurate at all times.
  15. Participate in educational activities and attend designated staff meetings.
  16. Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  17. Answer telephone calls in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  18. Understand and follow all oral and written instructions.
  19. Ensure that all visitors sign in on the appropriate log sheet and a visitor tag is given.
  20. Keep area neat, clean, and organized.
  21. Ensure that all patient documents are scanned in the same day.
  22. Other duties as assigned.

  • Monday: 8:00 am to 5:30 pm
  • Tuesday: 8:00 am to 5:30 pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00 am to 5:30 pm
  • Thursday: 8:00 am to 5:30 pm
  • Friday: 8:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Saturday: Closed
  • Sunday: Closed
