Responsibilities & Requirements

Interpret and abstract data (clinical, demographic, etc.) from electronic medical records for malignant and non-malignant tumors into the network cancer registry database, adhering to guidelines from national standards and legal requirements of Ohio. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Associate degree in a healthcare-related field, including coursework in medical terminology, pharmacology, and at least two semesters of human anatomy and physiology (or equivalent).

Minimum Work Experience

2-5 years of cancer registry experience preferred, especially within healthcare systems or network cancer registry structures.

Required Licenses

Ohio Cancer Registrar-ODS (Oncology Data Specialist) credential from the National Cancer Registrar’s Association is required. A Registered Health Information Technician/Administrator (RHIT/RHIA) credential from the American Health Information Management Association is preferred.

Required Skills

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, cancer diagnosis and treatment, and database quality assurance.
