Job summary

WERTZ ORTHODONTICS is seeking an energetic, compassionate Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. You will support the orthodontist with chairside procedures, patient education, and clinical records, helping patients achieve beautiful smiles.

The ideal candidate has orthodontic assisting experience, strong communication, and a team-first attitude in a fast-paced environment. This full-time role supports a 30–32 hour work week as standard, with Fridays off.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of orthodontic assistant experience preferred (will train the right candidate).
• Minimum 3 years of Dental Assistant experience.
• Active X-ray certification and/or CDA credentials are a plus.
• Current CPR certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Chairside assisting: assist with bonding, adjustments, bracket placement, and debonding using four-handed dentistry.
• Greet patients, prepare them for treatment, and ensure comfort during appointments.
• Take high-quality digital X-rays, intraoral photos, and digital scans.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments, operatory rooms, and equipment per OSHA and CDC guidelines.
• Fabricate orthodontic retainers, pour/trim models, and change wires.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and appliance care.

Key Responsibilities

• Chairside Assisting: Assist the orthodontist with bonding, adjustments, bracket placement, and debonding procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.


• Patient Care: Greet patients, prepare them for treatment, and ensure their comfort throughout the appointment.


• Clinical Records: Take high-quality digital X-rays, intraoral photos, and digital scans.


• Sterilization & Setup: Sterilize and disinfect instruments, operatory rooms, and equipment in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines.


• Appliance Management: Fabricate orthodontic retainers, pour/trim models, and change wires.


• Education: Instruct patients on proper oral hygiene and orthodontic appliance care.
