First Impressions Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is seeking a pediatric dental hygienist to join a patient‑focused team in Wisconsin. You will deliver prophylaxis, radiographs, and education to children and families, while maintaining strict infection control and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Wisconsin Dental Hygiene license required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • One year of dental hygiene experience preferred.
  • Experience working with or caring for children preferred.
  • Excellent communication with parents and teammates.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and prepare them for services, ensuring comfort during care.
  • Perform prophylaxis, remove calculus, plaque and stains from teeth.
  • Visually inspect gums for sores or disease signs.
  • Conduct extra-oral exams to detect swelling or tenderness.
  • Apply fluoride and sealants to prevent decay.
  • Chart decay and disease in the electronic health record.
  • Obtain quality digital x-rays and educate patients and families.
  • Conduct caries risk assessments and follow Best Care program interviews.
  • Post transactions accurately in the computer system.
  • May administer local anesthetic agents as needed.
  • Maintain infection control, disinfect and sterilize equipment.
  • Perform routine autoclave maintenance and equipment checks.
  • Attend hygiene and staff meetings and review patient histories.
  • Assist with stocking, cleaning, and instrument sharpening.
  • Schedule recall and sealant appointments; provide hygiene education.
  • Participate in daycare/school screenings and office tours.

Essential Functions
  • Greet patients, prepare them for services and make them comfortable during care
  • Complete a prophylaxis including the removal of calculus, plaque, and stains from the teeth and beneath the gums
  • Visually examine gums for sores and signs of disease
  • Conduct an extra oral exam to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate the presence of disease
  • Apply fluoride and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay
  • Apply sealants
  • Chart conditions of decay and disease as requested by the dentist in the electronic patient record
  • Obtain quality digital x-rays
  • Provide clinical services and oral health education to patients, their caregivers and families to improve and maintain oral health
  • Completely and accurately conduct a caries risk assessment and follow up with Best Care Program motivational interview
  • Accurately post transactions in the computer system
  • May administer local anesthetic agents
  • Disinfect, clean, and sterilize work area and instruments
  • Perform weekly and monthly maintenance of autoclaves and other equipment
  • Follow the infection control protocol as outlined by OSHA
  • Attend hygiene meetings and all scheduled staff meetings
  • Review patient chart and medical history forms
  • Assist with stocking supplies, general cleaning, and sharpening instruments
  • Scheduling recall and sealant appointments
  • Conducting hygiene education and/or screenings for daycare, schools, and office tours
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Valid State of Wisconsin Dental Hygiene License
  • CPR certification
  • One year of dental hygiene experience preferred
  • One year of experience working with or caring for children preferred
  • Strong customer service skills and commitment to patient/parent satisfaction
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with and educate parents
  • Must be able to communicate with coworkers and work as a team in order to maintain a steady flow and accommodate patients scheduled within the hygiene department as well as other aspects of the office
  • Exceptional behavior management skills or willingness to learn
  • Good hand/eye coordination, manual dexterity and precision
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Familiarity with Dentrix Ascend and Kodak Imaging helpful.
  • Requires local travel to other First Impressions offices
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
