Dental Front Office Lead

Under the supervision of the Health Center Clinic Manager, the Dental Front Office Lead oversees daily dental clinic front desk operations, ensuring smooth patient flow and high-quality customer service. Responsibilities include insurance verifications and support for maintenance of health and safety regulatory compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the reception team and oversee check-in and check-out processes.
  • Ensure front desk coverage and assist the Clinic Manager with creating and maintaining team schedules.
  • Serve as a backup for the reception team when necessary, providing exemplary customer service
  • Provide training, support, and evaluation of reception team, including training of front office staff on procedures, software, and customer service protocols.
  • Serve as a key resource for staff on organizational and front desk policies and procedures.
  • Escalate patient concerns to clinical staff according to established protocols.
  • Assist with insurance verification and pre-authorization processes for timely verification of patient insurance information.
  • Assist with patient scheduling, including appointments and confirmations
  • Oversee and reconcile daily cash and credit card collections, for accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Monitor team productivity and suggest solutions for enhancing patient experience and office workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards. Monitor team adherence to safety protocols.
  • Complete other duties and related projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years of related work experience within a Dental Office setting.
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience
  • Current CPR & BLS certified preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform the duties outlined above.
  • Familiarity with the day-to-day operations of a dental office, including scheduling, patient intake, dental terminology, procedures, and insurance processes and office procedures.
  • Awareness of when to escalate patient concerns to clinical staff based on established protocols.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to identify and resolve patient issues effectively.
  • Proficiency with the Epic EHR system or similar systems.
  • Capable of teaching, motivating, and ensuring a team consistently delivers exceptional customer service.
  • Detail orientation with commitment to administrative accuracy.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local health and Dental safety regulations, including OSHA standards
  • Verbal and written fluency in English required

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to communicate well with people of diverse cultural professional and experiential backgrounds

Working conditions

Work is conducted in an officeenvironment inside astandard dental clinic setting. Basic safety precautions and use of protective clothing or gear is required. Extensive interaction with the public may be required. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
