Job summary

Health Center Association of Nebraska is seeking a Dental Director to lead dental planning, programs, and services at a Federally Qualified Health Center in Omaha. You will oversee the dental peer review process, audits, and policy development to ensure high-quality, compliant care.

The role emphasizes prevention, team leadership, and partnership with an integrated care team. A candidate with a DDS/DMD and active license will guide clinical and administrative functions in a mission-driven

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop Dental planning, programs, and services.
  • Coordinate Dental peer review and quarterly dental health record audits.
  • Develop and maintain dental clinic policies/procedures; ensure training and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop annual strategic work plan with monthly reports to CEO.
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases of the oral cavity.
  • Emphasize primary prevention: education, fluorides, prophylaxis, exams, sealants.
  • May serve as a preceptor for general dentistry residency programs.

The Health Center Association of Nebraska (HCAN) is actively recruiting a Dental Director to join one of our Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) in Omaha, Nebraska, where you will provide high-quality, patient-centered dental care for all. Your Role:

  • Lead, manage, and develop Dental planning, programs, and services
  • Coordinate the Dental Peer review function and conduct retrospective dental health record audits on a quarterly basis
  • Develop and maintain dental clinic policies and procedures, ensure training and regulatory compliance for all dental staff and operations
  • Develop and implement annual strategic work plan, supported by monthly written reports and benchmarks submitted to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat disease, abnormalities, injuries, and/or disorders of the oral cavity
  • Emphasize primary prevention inclusive of oral health education, topical and systemic fluorides, periodontal prophylaxis, exams, and dental sealants as appropriate Establish and monitor productivity benchmarks for providers and staff
  • May serve as a preceptor for general dentistry residency programs

What We Are Looking For:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of dentistry with an unrestricted license to practice dentistry with corresponding DEA registration required
  • A minimum of three years of experience practicing as a dentist, plus two to three years of administrative experience in a clinic setting strongly preferred
  • Competition of a Dental General Practice Residency or Advanced Education in General Dentistry is a plus
  • Experience in FQHC operations, federal and state regulatory compliance, and grant oversight highly preferred
  • Ability to foster a high-performing, inclusive workplace culture grounded in clear expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and to make decisions on critical health care programs and issues, and analyze complex information
  • Current certificate in BLS
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
