Dental Director Location: Omaha, NE 68107 Schedule: Full-Time | Fully Onsite Employment Type: Direct Hire Salary: $185,000–$200,000 annually

Position Overview

OneWorld Community Health Centers is seeking an experienced Dental Director to lead its dental service line in Omaha, Nebraska. The Dental Director will provide both clinical leadership and operational oversight for the dental department. This position is responsible for leading dental programs and personnel, maintaining high standards of patient care, driving quality and performance improvement, managing departmental resources, and supporting the continued development of the dental team. The Dental Director will also maintain an active clinical practice and provide direct patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and develop dental programs, services, personnel, and operations.
  • Provide clinical leadership while actively participating in patient treatment.
  • Establish and implement quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate dental peer review and conduct quarterly dental record audits.
  • Develop and report oral health outcomes and departmental performance metrics.
  • Develop an annual strategic work plan with monthly reports and benchmarks for the CEO.
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and development of dental staff and providers.
  • Manage departmental resources, staffing, equipment, supplies, and operating expenses.
  • Prepare and monitor the dental department budget.
  • Develop and maintain dental clinic policies and procedures.
  • Ensure regulatory, clinical, and staff compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, productivity, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve patient and staff concerns and conflicts.
  • Collaborate with leaders and teams throughout the organization.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat oral diseases, abnormalities, injuries, and disorders.
  • Provide emergency dental services, including treatment of pain, infection, swelling, bleeding, and trauma.
  • Perform basic restorative dentistry, basic endodontics, prosthodontic restoration, oral surgery, and space maintenance.
  • Provide preventive oral health services, including education, fluoride treatments, periodontal prophylaxis, examinations, and sealants.
  • Evaluate dental findings and establish appropriate treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and current dental records.
  • Refer non-dental medical conditions to the appropriate specialty.
  • May serve as a preceptor for general dentistry residency programs.
Qualifications
  • DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school required.
  • Thorough knowledge of general dentistry and oral surgery principles and practices.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a dentist.
  • 2–3 years of administrative experience in a clinical setting strongly preferred.
  • GPR or AEGD completion is a plus.
  • Active, unrestricted Nebraska dental license, or ability to readily obtain one.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Ability to meet OneWorld privileging requirements.
  • Current BLS certification and CEU.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and make decisions regarding clinical programs and healthcare operations.
  • Experience leading diverse, multidisciplinary dental professionals preferred.
  • Familiarity with dental standards and regulations from organizations such as Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, CDC, and ADA desired.
  • Ability to travel between multiple work locations.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
