Job summary

Complete Health in Rapid City, SD seeks an experienced Dental Director to lead our dental services, maintain direct patient care, and guide clinical excellence.

Qualifications

Complete Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate Dental Director to provide clinical and administrative leadership for our dental services team. This role offers the opportunity to influence organizational strategy, mentor providers, drive quality improvement initiatives, and continue direct patient care while making a meaningful impact on the communities we serve.

The Dental Director plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality, patient-centered dental care while supporting the organization's mission to provide accessible healthcare to underserved populations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Leadership
  • Provide leadership and oversight for all dental providers and clinical dental staff.
  • Maintain direct patient care responsibilities while supporting clinical excellence throughout the department.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for dental providers.
  • Oversee peer review activities to ensure quality care and adherence to clinical standards.
  • Support performance improvement and quality improvement initiatives.
Strategic & Administrative Leadership
  • Collaborate with the Administrative Team to advance organizational goals and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Represent dental services in organizational planning and leadership discussions.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to clinical programs based on community needs, quality metrics, and operational data.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for dental staff.
  • Assist with provider recruitment and retention efforts.
Staff Development
  • Support onboarding and mentorship of new providers.
  • Oversee continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Facilitate in-service training and promote a culture of continuous learning.
Compliance & Operations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and state dental board requirements.
  • Promote a safe and supportive work environment for patients, staff.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration across departments.
  • Support additional operational and leadership responsibilities as needed.

Requirements
  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited School of Dentistry.
  • Current South Dakota dental license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in dental operations.
  • Experience with electronic dental records (EDR).
  • Knowledge of personnel management and administrative functions.
  • Experience with quality improvement and process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong presentation, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a community health or federally qualified health center environment.
  • Familiarity with serving underserved, low-income, and culturally diverse populations.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary clinical teams.
