Job description

Summary: Are you an accomplished professional in your field who wants to give back to your community? Joining the faculty at SJVC is a great way to make a real impact on the next generation. Faculty members are primarily responsible for the teaching and learning process in the classroom. Faculty members facilitate and ensure student learning and mastery of course, program, and institutional learning outcomes as defined in the curriculum and course syllabi. Faculty are supported and supervised by the Academic Dean, Program Director and/or Division Manager.

What We Offer: The targeted starting pay range for this position is between $20-$25 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Fulfills all duties enumerated within the Statement of Faculty Responsibilities.
  2. Reviews and adheres to the guidelines in the Faculty Handbook.
  3. Prepares and executes lesson plans for assigned courses.
  4. Prepares course syllabus and informs students of course requirements.
  5. Documents grades and other student interaction in Campus Nexus within 48 hours.
  6. Adheres to programmatic accrediting requirements.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Faculty supervise student conduct in the classroom, on the campus, and on field trips and school related functions.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:
  1. Associate degree.
  2. Minimum of (3) years of experience.
  3. Registered Dental Assistant.
  4. Registered Dental Assistant and licensed in CA for a minimum of (2) years.
  5. Radiology (X), Coronal Polish (CP), and Sealants (S) certified.
  6. Two-hour teaching methodology in clinical evaluation certificate (Radiology, Coronal Polish, Sealants, and Infection Control).
  7. 30-hour teaching methodology certificate, issued by SJVC or CADAT.
  8. Bls Provider (AHA or ARC preferred).
  9. Computer skills preferred.
Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret materials related to area of expertise; ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, employees and members of the business community; ability to effectively present information to students, employees, and the business community.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and all software programs related to courses to be taught.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Faculty must have required certificates, licenses and registrations required for the course(s) they are to teach.
