Job summary

University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks a dependable Dental Assistant (Temp) to support clinical and administrative functions in a dental care setting. You will assist providers, sterilize rooms, take radiographs, and ensure supplies are ready for patient care.

The role requires handling patients across all ages, from newborns to elderly, while maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment. This temporary position supports the UAB Temp Services team onsite.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a dental office or healthcare setting.
• Completion of a dental assisting training program.
• Experience with chairside assisting, sterilization, and dental radiography.
• Familiarity with dental terminology, equipment, and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance to dentists and other dental professionals during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Prepare patients, instruments, materials, and equipment for dental procedures.
• Assist with instrument transfer, suctioning, and other chairside duties.
• Help maintain efficient patient flow and a comfortable treatment environment.
• Communicate professionally with patients and clinical staff.
• Sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to infection control procedures.
• Take and process dental radiographs as authorized and maintain radiographic equipment.
• Monitor inventory and assist with restocking supplies.
• Provide age-appropriate support to patients from newborns to geriatrics.
