Job summary

DirectShifts is seeking a Dental Assistant for a per diem position at a dental practice in East Brunswick, NJ. You will work closely with dentists and the clinical team to support patient care and daily operations.

Responsibilities include preparing treatment rooms, assisting during procedures, taking radiographs, sterilizing instruments, educating patients, and documenting records while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program OR six months of hands-on experience.
• Current 6-hour X-ray Certification.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all equipment and instruments are ready for patient care.
• Welcome, seat, and prepare patients for dental procedures while ensuring their comfort.
• Assist the dentist during procedures by passing instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a sterile field.
• Sterilize, organize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
• Take and develop dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations.
• Mix and prepare dental materials for restorative procedures.
• Fabricate temporary restorations and polish removable dental appliances, as appropriate.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, plaque control, and post-treatment care.
• Accurately document patient treatment and clinical notes in electronic health records.
• Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and safety protocols.
• Assist in maintaining inventory and ensuring the clinic remains clean, organized, and fully stocked.
• Support emergency preparedness by maintaining CPR certification and emergency equipment.
• Collaborate with the dental team to deliver exceptional patient experiences.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
