Job summary

Atlantic Health in Summit, NJ is seeking a qualified Dental Assistant to support dentists during examinations and treatment, maintain sterile equipment, and prepare materials.

The role requires NJ radiography license, DANB certification, and RDA registration, plus English fluency and strong patient communication.

You will assist in emergencies, educate patients on oral hygiene, and participate in administrative tasks such as scheduling and billing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CDA experience is preferred.
• NJ Dental X-ray license is required.
• DANB certification is required.
• Registered as an RDA in NJ is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, and prepares materials.
• Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patient.
• Exposes dental diagnostic x-rays.
• Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.
• Pours, trims, and polishes study casts, fabricates custom impression trays from preliminary impressions, cleans and polishes removable appliances, and fabricates temporary restorations.
• Assists dentists in management of medical and dental emergencies.
• Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs. Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist.
• Applies protective coating of fluoride to teeth.
• May schedule appointments, prepare bills and receive payment for dental services, complete insurance forms, and maintain clerical records.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
