Job summary

DirectShifts is seeking a Dental Assistant for a per diem role in New York. You will work closely with dentists and the clinical team to ensure high-quality patient care and smooth daily operations.

The position requires completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program (or 6 months of experience), plus current X-ray and CPR certifications. Prior experience in a general or multi-specialty practice is a plus, with opportunity for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program or at least 6 months of hands-on experience.
• Current 6-hour X-ray Certification.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms and ensure equipment and instruments are ready for patient care.
• Welcome and seat patients, preparing them for procedures and ensuring comfort.
• Assist the dentist during procedures by passing instruments, suctioning and maintaining a sterile field.
• Sterilize, organize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
• Take and develop dental radiographs per state regulations.
• Mix and prepare dental materials for restorations.
• Fabricate temporary restorations and polish removable appliances as needed.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Document patient treatment and notes in electronic health records.
• Maintain HIPAA, OSHA and infection control protocols.
• Manage inventory and keep the clinic clean and stocked.
• Support emergency preparedness with CPR certification and equipment.
• Collaborate with the team to deliver exceptional patient experiences.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
