Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during examination and treatment of patients.
• Prepare patients for dental procedures, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, and assist dentists during dental procedures.
• Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients.
• Pours and trims study casts.
• Cleans and polishes removable appliances.
• Assist the dentist in the management of medical and dental emergencies.
• Prepare dental supply orders and anticipate clinic needs.
• Maintain equipment service records and knowledge of dental office equipment maintenance.
• Provide post-operative instructions and document treatment information in patient records.
• May assist at front desk with scheduling, billing, and insurance forms as needed.
