Job summary

Baystate Dental in Springfield, Massachusetts is seeking a Dental Assistant to support our clinical team in a busy, team-based practice. You will assist dentists, prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and help ensure patient comfort and satisfaction.

Candidates must complete a one-year certified dental assistant program, have at least one year of experience, and hold an X-ray certification; Nitrous oxide certification is highly recommended.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program.
• 1 year on-the-job-experience.
• X-Ray certification.
• Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed).
• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
