Job summary

Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless is seeking a part-time Dental Assistant (20 hours/week) to join a compassionate team serving people experiencing homelessness. Background in medical or dental work is preferred; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

The role supports clinic and outreach activities and operates under a harm-reduction model to provide holistic care. Ideal candidates will have a relevant dental assistant program, X-ray certification, and a strong commitment to serving underserved

Since 1985, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless has dedicated its mission exclusively to providing services to people experiencing homelessness. AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. Our vision is to live in a world that is just and without homelessness. Our ideal candidate would be a team player and have previous experience in a clinic or hospital setting with underserved populations. Compassion for and an understanding of the wide variety of issues for those experiencing homelessness is a must.

Our DA team works in rotating schedules doing Outreach work in the field and in our Clinic. We work from a harm reduction model and believe in meeting people where they are at. We view patient care holistically and work in a multidisciplinary fashion to connect our patients to various resources within our organization and without. This is a part-time, non-exempt position.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Background in medical or dental (MA, CNA, DA, etc)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Flexibility to work with multiple providers
• Ability to thrive in a complex healthcare setting

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited dental assistant program with current X-ray certification
• Experience working with underserved populations or people experiencing homelessness
• Knowledge of harm reduction and trauma informed philosophies
• Bilingual or Spanish Speaking
