Job Description

The purpose of this position is to support the dentist in providing oral healthcare for DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel in Iraq. The dental assistant is a key member of the dental team, performing a variety of interventions to promote patients' oral health.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with routine dental procedures using four-handed dentistry concepts.
• Performing standard and specialty dental imaging in traditional and digital formats.
• Maintaining cleanliness and preparing the operatory with all needed equipment, materials, and supplies before procedures; cleaning after patient dismissal for timely turnover.
• Providing direct patient care under the supervision of the Dentist and performing clerical functions independently.
• 3+ years recent experience preferred; entry-level candidates considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience & Certifications Required:

• Active, unrestricted license or registration as a Dental Assistant from a U.S. state or territory.
• Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Certified and passed the CDA exam.
• BLS certification strongly preferred.
• 3+ years recent experience, including at least six months in the past year.
• Previous military or OCONUS contractor experience in an austere environment is a plus.

Education Required

• Completion of a 2-year dental assistant or dental hygiene program accredited by the ADA, including at least 12 semester hours.

Physical Requirements

• Must meet pre-deployment physical standards.
• Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
• May require bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Other Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Valid U.S. Passport with at least 18 months before expiration, maintained during deployment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (MRPT preferred).
• Must be willing to relocate to Iraq for the project duration.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
