Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Dental Assistant to support inmate dental care inside a clinic. You will prepare patients, provide chairside assistance, operate dental equipment, and manage X-rays and records under supervision.

The role includes sterilization, supplies inventory, appointment scheduling and basic administrative tasks. Education in dental assistance is required; CDA certification and X-ray credentials are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in Dental Assistance or ADA-accredited program.
• High school diploma with ADA-certified training and X-ray certification.
• CDA certification and two years’ dental assisting experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to inmate population and maintains dental health delivery services at the assigned clinic.
• Prepares patients for treatment and provides chairside assistance for all dental procedures.
• Operates dental equipment and exposes, develops, mounts and files dental X-rays.
• Maintains and sterilizes dental instruments and equipment; cleans working areas.
• Maintains dental patient records and inventory; schedules appointments; performs administrative duties as needed.
• Assists with providing dental care to other clinics statewide as needed.
