Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide direct care to inmates and maintain dental health services at a correctional clinic. You will prepare patients, assist during procedures, expose and mount X-rays, and maintain equipment and records in a secure facility.

The role requires an associate degree in dental assisting or ADA training, with X-ray certification often required or preferred. Strong hygiene and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Dental Assistance or one year of ADA accredited training.
• CDA certification or equivalent dental x-ray certification is preferred.
• Basic understanding of dental x-ray exposure and aseptic technique.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to inmate population and maintains dental health delivery services at assigned dental clinic.
• Prepares patients for treatment and provides chairside assistance for all dental procedures.
• Exposes, develops and mounts dental X-rays.
• Maintains equipment by cleaning and lubricating dental hand pieces and suction lines.
• Cleans working areas and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
• Schedules dental appointments and maintains patient records.
• Assists with providing dental care to other dental clinics statewide as needed.
