Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Dental Assistant II at the Denton State Supported Living Center. The role involves chair-side assistance, radiography, and patient care in a facility serving residents with complex needs.

The Dental Assistant II will manage data entry into the Dental Database, maintain records, and support the dentist and hygienists under supervision. Applicants must be registered D.A. in Texas and meet ongoing certification requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of dental instruments, equipment, and materials and their uses; of sterilization methods; of x-ray film exposure and processing techniques; of dental terminology; and of oral hygiene instruction for patients and care givers.
• Experience with dental radiography documentation and dental records management is desirable.
• Proficiency with basic computer and clinic software for scheduling and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may follow shift schedules, including overtime as required.
• Daily assisting Dental Director, Clinical Dentist and Hygienists at the chair side with instruments.
• Exposes and develops radiographs as ordered by the Dental Director or Clinical Dentist.
• Maintains infection control standards in the Dental Clinic and manages supplies.
• Schedules appointments and enters data into the dental records system.
