The University of Louisville School of Dentistry is seeking to hire a Dental Assistant I for our Paducah practice located at 5200 Alben Barkley Dr, Paducah, KY 42001.

As a chairside assistant, you will prepare operatories, assist providers, maintain patient charts, and support infection control protocols. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 6 months of dental assisting experience or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal dental assisting training program and externship acceptable.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers at chairside; review and maintain patient charts; prepare operatories, instruments, supplies and paperwork prior to patient arrival.
• Maintain clinic; assist with screening; perform functions related to the specialty area; instruct patients in oral hygiene.
• Supervise patients; mix materials; take vital signs; dispense pre-medication; instruct patients in post-treatment; handle emergencies.
• Cross-train with other employees and perform duties as assigned.
• Forward supply requests; maintain inventory and stock cubicles.
• Perform laboratory duties as assigned; order outside supplies and create a catalog for supplies.
• Distribute sterilized trays and instruments; receive and prepare contaminated instruments; set up/tear down operatories to infection control guidelines; clean equipment.
