KAISER is seeking a Dental Assistant for the Rockwood Dental Office in Portland, Oregon. This on-call, days position supports dentists, hygienists, denturists, and other provider personnel in delivering dental care within a Kaiser Permanente dental office.

The role involves four-handed dentistry, taking radiographs, maintaining records, infection control, and assisting with orthodontic procedures as needed under supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a dental assistant OR a graduate from an ADA accredited dental assisting program.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Dental Radiation Proficiency Certificate (Oregon) within hire timeframe.
• Pit and Fissure Sealant Certificate (Oregon) within 6 months of hire.
• Expanded Function Dental Assistant Certificate (Oregon) within 3 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire.
• Notes: By geographic area - East & Central Portland Metro.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties as a dental assistant under supervision, including preparing instruments and assisting in operative procedures.
• Take dental radiographs, expose films, and maintain imaging equipment.
• Maintain infection control; sterilize instruments and manage a clean operatory and processing areas.
• Greet patients, explain procedures, document health information and ensure proper dental records.
• Assist in orthodontic procedures including band sizing, arch wires, and bonding material as allowed.
