Job summary

Florida OMFS in Tampa, FL is seeking a dental assistant to join our team and support doctors while ensuring smooth patient flow in a busy practice.

The role emphasizes patient education, charting, X-ray processing, and maintaining a friendly, team-focused attitude. A Dental Assisting Certificate and Radiology license are preferred, bilingual ability is a plus, with health benefits and 401(k) offered.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude even in challenging situations.
  • Education: High School diploma or GED; Dental Assisting Certificate and Radiology License preferred.
  • Experience: Experienced Dental Assistant; oral surgery experience is a plus.
  • Background check required; bilingual is a plus.
  • Physical requirements: mostly walking, talking, standing, updating information in computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provides chair-side clinical support and assists doctors, including charting, patient education, operatory setup and cleanup.
  • Manages patient flow, prioritizes next operating room, and updates doctors on patient status.
  • Welcomes patients in the reception area with a personal introduction and greeting.
  • Takes and processes X-rays; performs patient hand-offs.
  • Enters and updates patient treatment plans in the system as directed by the treating Doctor.
  • Ensures OSHA, HIPAA compliance and safety requirements are followed.
  • Identifies and reports maintenance needs for dental equipment and office systems.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provides superior chair-side clinical support and assistance to doctors, which includes but is not limited to charting, patient education, Operatory set-up, and clean-up.

  • Manages the patient flow; redirects efforts to respond to changes, prioritizes the next operating room for the Doctors, and updates the Doctors on the patients’ status.

  • Welcomes and greets patients in the reception area and provides a personal introduction, including name and position.

  • Takes and processes X-rays.

  • Perform patient hand-offs.

  • Enters and updates patient treatment plans at the direction of the treating Doctor using the company's operational system.

  • Verifies the patient’s clinical service needs were exceeded and takes appropriate action when visits do not meet expectations.

  • Escorts the patient to check-out.

  • Completes sterilization processes for equipment and Operatory.

  • Monitors all laboratory cases and ensures they are ready for the next day’s schedule.

  • Maintains emergency kits and first aid supplies, emergency medications, and oxygen tanks.

  • Follows maintenance schedules for the processor, autoclave, and compressor weekly.

  • Identifies, reports, and follows up on any maintenance issues in the office, including dental equipment and handpieces.

  • Follows OSHA regulations and MFSD safety requirements, including compliance with HIPAA guidelines, CPR, X-rays, and other required certifications and registrations.

  • Other responsibilities as directed by supervisor.


Requirements

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS


  • Demonstrating a positive attitude in the face of difficult or challenging situations

  • Education Level: High School or diploma or GED. Dental Assisting Certificate and Radiology License preferred.

  • Job-Related/Industry Experience: This position requires an experienced Dental Assistant. Oral surgery experience is a plus!

  • Background check required.

  • Bilingual is a plus but not required

  • Physical Requirements: Mostly walking, talking, standing, and updating information in computer systems.
