Job summary

Family Dental Health of Isle of Palms is seeking an outgoing, team-oriented Dental Assistant to support doctors with dental procedures and manage patient flow. You will review charts, document patient data, and assist in delivering high-quality care in a busy practice.

The position requires an accredited dental assisting program with CDA certification, or equivalent training, plus current x-ray and CPR/nitrous credentials. A friendly, patient-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program with CDA certification; or combination of education and on-the-job training to demonstrate basic chairside skills.
• Current x-ray, CPR, and nitrous certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Demonstrated ability to work in a professional environment with direct patient contact and friendly demeanor.
• Basic knowledge of dentistry and ability to educate patients regarding their dental health.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist doctors with all dental procedures and maintain patient flow.
• Review patient charts prior to doctor arrival and document data during exams.
• Transcribe doctor notes in patient charts and ensure accurate health history.
• Order and maintain inventory of clinical supplies.
• Promote the practice and educate patients about services.

• Perform efficient and accurate procedures to help maintain doctor's schedule and patient flow

• Review patient chart prior to doctor arrival and log appropriate patient data during exam and treatment as well as transcribe doctor notes in patient chart
• Verify patient health history and document appropriately in patient's chart

• Maintain sufficient inventory by ordering clinical supplies
• Ensure the practice maintains sufficient inventory by ordering clinical supplies
• Promote and market the company's services and doctors to patients as well as educate patients
• Address patient's questions and/or concerns

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program with current CDA certification; or a combination of education and on-the-job training to demonstrate basic chairside dental assisting skills:
  • Receiving and preparing patients for dental treatment
  • Assisting chairside
  • Taking x-rays
  • Making temporary crowns and pouring/trimming impressions
  • Make custom bleaching trays
• Current x-ray, CPR, and nitrous certifications (or the ability to obtain upon hire)
• Demonstrated ability to work in a professional environment with direct patient contact. This includes demonstrating an outgoing and friendly demeanor, greeting patients with a smile as welcomed guests to the practice.
• Basic knowledge of dentistry and ability to educate patients regarding their dental health
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment. This includes learning quickly and accepting constructive feedback. Self-motivated and driven for team success.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 1 or more years expanded dental assisting experience, preferably in general dentistry
• Denticon experience (or the ability to learn)
