Job summary

Betances Health Center in New York is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to support clinicians by seating patients, handing instruments, mixing materials, and preparing supplies for a range of procedures. You will help ensure smooth patient flow and maintain a welcoming environment for all.

Responsibilities include sterilizing and assembling instruments, taking impressions, pouring models, capturing radiographs, recording treatment details, coordinating schedules, and assisting with inventory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum one year of dental practice experience or completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program.
• Bilingual preferred; strong patient relations and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills including Word, Excel and inter-office email systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in dental treatment, seat patients, hand instruments and materials.

• Prepare cast models, take impressions, and pour/trim models as needed.
• Take and download intraoral radiographs for diagnosis and treatment.
• Document results in patient records and educate patients on care.
• Schedule and confirm appointments and coordinate patient flow.
• Requisition supplies and perform routine instrument maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting in the dental treatment of patients, including seating patients, providing dentist with instruments and equipment, and mixing filling and impression materials.
• Cleaning, sterilizing, and assembling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for specific dental procedures.
• Assisting in the preparation of cast models by preparing required materials, taking impressions of teeth, and pouring and trimming models.
• Take and download oral radiographs used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
• Record treatment results on patient’s dental record; instruct patients in the care of teeth and appliances; provide instructional materials as required.
• Schedule and confirm appointments.
• Requisition dental supplies and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance on instruments and equipment.
• Perform other duties as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• High School Diploma or equivalent;
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in a dental practice or completion of an accredited, approved Dental Assistant program;
• Bilingual preferred;
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients and co-workers;
• Basic Computer Skills demonstrating specifically basic skills in word, excel, inter office email systems.
