Heartland Dental’s ForwardDental Forest Home in Milwaukee, WI is seeking an experienced Dental Assistant to join our team. The role utilizes Dentrix, iTero scanning, and a patient‑centered approach to care.

You will greet patients, review health histories, take X‑rays, and assist dentists in a fast‑paced office. Requires 2–3 years of experience and relevant certifications, with HIPAA training and safety adherence.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of Dental Assistant experience.
  • General computer knowledge.
  • Certification: dental assistant and/or x‑ray (state law dependent).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • HIPAA training and PHI/data safeguards awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and educate them throughout treatment.
  • Review patient health history to ensure quality care.
  • Take and process x‑rays and other diagnostics (iTero 3D scanner, digital photography).
  • Provide chairside assistance (four‑handed dentistry) during procedures with supported dentists.
  • Use Dentrix for scheduling and record keeping.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with safety protocols and OSHA/CDC adherence.
  • Manage supplies and place/expedite orders as needed.
  • Partner with providers to maximize office workflow within Heartland Dental systems.

Job description

ForwardDental Forest Home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is looking for an experienced Dental Assistant to join our team.

Pay Range: $19.00 to $25.00 per hour

Experience Requested: 2 to 3 years

Dental Software: Dentrix

Practice Hours: Monday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Tuesday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM; Friday: 8:00 AM–2:00 PM

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have 2 to 3 years of Dental Assistant experience and general computer knowledge. Experience using Dentrix is preferred.

  • Work effectively with patients and team members from a variety of backgrounds
  • Work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • Manage multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced dental office
  • Anticipate the next steps in patient care and office flow after completing initial training
  • Remain dependable and flexible when patient care extends beyond normal office hours
More About The Role
  • Greet and welcome patients from the start of their dental journey, sustain patient comfort, and provide appropriate education throughout treatment
  • Conduct a thorough review of the patient’s health history to provide quality care
  • Take and process x‑rays and other diagnostic assessments (iTero 3D scanner, digital photography, etc.)
  • Provide superior chairside assistance (four‑handed dentistry) to supported dentists during a wide variety of procedures in accordance with the state dental practice act
  • Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and record keeping
  • Prepare treatment rooms with strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA & CDC recommendations
  • Manage supply and inventory levels, and place and expedite orders as needed
  • Partner with providers and team to implement Heartland Dental systems and maximize office workflow

Minimum Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced and customer‑centric environment
  • Required certifications: dental assistant certification and/or x‑ray certification, if required by state law
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Will receive regular HIPAA training and must protect PHI and maintain data safeguards
Preferred Experience
  • 1+ years of experience in a dental setting
  • Experience with Dentrix or other dental software
  • Dental assisting school certification
Physical Requirements
  • Perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds at times
  • Availability to attend virtual or in‑person training sessions periodically throughout the year
  • Completion of a tuberculosis (TB) test for all new hires in dental office positions unless exempt by state
