Base Salary Range : $45,760 - $47,840 plus benefits

FTE : Full-time, Non-Exempt

General Summary : The Unlicensed Dental Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed dentist and is responsible for a variety of tasks including preparing patients for treatment, performing basic supportive dental procedures, setting up instruments and equipment, and maintaining records. The ideal candidate will perform some of the following essential duties:

  • Prepare patients, sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, or assist during procedures.
  • Welcome, seat, and drape patients to prepare them for dental treatment.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative care instructions.
  • Ensure proper operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs when necessary.

Additional duties include:

  • Taking and recording medical and dental histories and vital signs.
  • Assisting the dentist in managing medical or dental emergencies.
  • Providing postoperative instructions as prescribed by the dentist.
  • Instructing patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
  • Ordering and monitoring dental supplies and equipment inventory.

Qualifications and Certifications Requirements :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a CODA-accredited dental assisting program in the United States required.
  • Dental Assistant Certification.
  • Current BLS Certification required.

Experience :

  • 1 to 3 years of dental assistant experience preferred.
  • Training at an accredited dental assisting program.
  • Minimum 0 to 2.5 years of dental front and back-office experience.

Skills and Abilities :

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
