POSITION
Position Title : Dental Assistant
Status : Full Time
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Standing 80%.
- Sitting 20%.
- Moderate noise levels from dental and other lab equipment.
- Medical, office, and lab setting.
- Minimum lifting requirements of 35 pounds to transfer equipment and pack/unpack supplies.
- Frequent bending, twisting, and position changes to examine and service patients.
- Exceptional hand-eye coordination to use dental implements, assist the dentist, and handle materials.
- Frequent interaction with clients and interoffice personnel as this position is chair-side to the dentist and heavily dependent on customer interaction.
- Near vision ability to see details at close range for handling materials and procedures.
- Potential occupational exposure to trace amounts of nitrous oxide and/or x-rays.
- Work hours: Monday through Friday, 9AM - 6PM.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under supervision, assist the Dentist in administrative and clinical duties including preparing patients, sterilizing instruments, setting up trays, preparing materials, and assisting during procedures. Provide patient support including personal assistance, medical attention, and emotional support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with dental and medical emergencies following OSHA and office procedures.
- Maintain CPR certification.
- Assist chair-side during nitrous oxide administration.
- Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control.
- Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations.
- Clean and polish removable appliances.
- Record medical/dental histories and vital signs.
- Document treatment information in patient records.
- Expose dental diagnostic x-rays.
- Provide hand instruments and materials during exams and procedures to ensure patient comfort and efficiency.
- Follow hazard control protocols per OSHA and office standards.
- Represent the practice professionally and cooperatively.
- Maintain attendance and adhere to schedules and policies.
- Handle multiple deadlines and tasks efficiently.
- Work independently and in team settings.
- Travel may be required for continuing education or seminars.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- GED, high school diploma, or equivalent experience.
