Qualifications

Job Description
Dental Assistant
Performs duties that assist the Dental Director, Dentists, and Dental Hygienists in patient care. Responsibilities include reception, chairside assisting, inventory management, and record keeping.

• Starting wage: $20.50 to $25 per hour
• Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm

A Day in the Life of a Dental Assistant with Salud: A Dental Assistant prepares treatment rooms, maintains schedules, interacts with patients before, during, and after procedures, and assists the dentist chairside. These are just some of the many duties involved.

Qualifications

Experience: Previous Dental Assistant experience is preferred but not required.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Licensure/Certification:

• No licensure needed to hire
• Must be radiology certified through a state-approved program within the required timeframe
• Completion of Salud Family Health Center Ladder’s program is required
• Registered Dental Assistant Program certification is required

Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Willingness to travel to other clinics as needed
• Ability and willingness to learn and expand skills
• Follow oral and written instructions
• Motivate patients
• Work well with team members
• Operate and document in electronic records
• Take diagnostic digital X-rays reliably and timely
• Build effective relationships with patients and staff
• Sensitivity to low-income and minority communities is essential
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
