Job summary

Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics is hiring a dental assistant to support multiple specialties across locations in the United States. The role emphasizes patient safety, accurate record-keeping, and assisting doctors with diagnostic imaging and chairside procedures.

Required are high school diploma, active CPR/AED, X-ray certification (AZ or DANB), and nitrous oxide monitoring. Bilingual Spanish is a plus, with training in OSHA and HIPAA compliance ongoing.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Active CPR and AED training.
  • Must have an X-Ray Certification from the State of Arizona or DANB.
  • Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide.
  • Keep up with OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training.
  • Dental software experience (Open Dental/Dentrix) helpful.
  • Sealant, Coronal Polishing, or PALS certifications are a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize patient safety and team safety during visits.
  • Adhere to OSHA and infection control protocols.
  • Maintain digital patient artifacts including health history and treatment plans.
  • Educate patients and parents on oral health benefits.
  • Monitor patient well-being throughout visits.
  • Prepare tray setups per doctor preferences.
  • Clean, disinfect, and stock exam rooms and operatories.
  • Chart treatments and update patient charts.
  • Review charts and health history before doctor arrival.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Active CPR and AED training
  • Must have an X-Ray Certification from the State of Arizona or DANB
  • Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide
  • Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training
  • Dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) experience helpful
  • Sealant, Coronal Polishing, or PALS Certifications are all a huge plus!
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Focusing on Patient Safety and Team Safety as priority one
  • Adhering to OSHA and Infection Control Protocols, and disposing of sharps and clinical waste in a prompt and safe manner
  • Maintaining digital patient artifacts such as health history, insurance eligibility, treatment plans, pre-authorizations, lab requests, procedures, and appointment details
  • Educating patients and parents on the benefits of good oral health
  • Monitoring the patient's physical and emotional well-being during the entire visit
  • Preparing tray set-ups according to doctor preferences and planned procedures
  • Ensuring that exam rooms and operatories are cleaned, disinfected, organized, and stocked according to the required standards at the beginning and end of each patient interaction
  • Charting existing treatment for new patients by updating the patient chart with entries for fillings, crowns, sealants, etc.
  • Reviewing the patient chart and health history prior to the doctor arrival and reconfirming the patient's chief concern
  • Taking diagnostic quality X-Rays and attaching them to the patient chart
  • Helping the Rodeo Team clean surfaces, sinks, floors and common areas of exam rooms, operatories, reception, break rooms, restrooms, etc.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged sitting and standing as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
