Demand Planner

Job Summary

HD Supply is seeking an analytical and results-driven Demand Planner to support demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and sales and operations planning (S&OP) across the organization.

This role is responsible for improving forecast accuracy, identifying demand trends, and translating complex data into actionable business insights. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, supply chain planning experience, and the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions to drive operational efficiency and support customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Demand Planning & Forecasting

• Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts using statistical models, historical trends, and business insights.
• Support the execution and continuous improvement of the enterprise Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process across business segments.
• Establish repeatable demand planning processes, reporting tools, and forecasting methodologies.
• Identify forecast discrepancies, demand fluctuations, risks, and opportunities, and recommend solutions to improve planning accuracy.

Data Analytics & Performance Improvement

• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including forecast accuracy, demand variability, and planning performance.
• Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, determine root causes, and drive continuous improvement.
• Create recurring and ad hoc demand analyses to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Translate forecasting results and business insights into clear, executive-level reports and presentations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Sales, Merchandising, Marketing, Inventory, and Finance to align demand forecasts with business priorities.
• Incorporate new product introductions, product discontinuations, promotional activities, and customer-specific inventory requirements into demand plans.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve forecast gaps, supply constraints, and emerging business risks.
• Support alignment between demand planning, inventory investment, and customer service objectives.

Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)

• Coordinate demand planning activities throughout each S&OP cycle to deliver reliable demand and supply forecasts.
• Support inventory optimization strategies that balance product availability, customer service levels, and working capital efficiency.
• Research and implement industry best practices, planning methodologies, and process improvements.
• Drive consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement across demand planning activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Analytics, or a related field preferred.
• Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in demand planning, forecasting, supply chain analytics, or a related discipline.
• Experience with Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), statistical forecasting, and inventory management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable recommendations.
• Proficiency with demand planning applications, forecasting tools, and data analysis software.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate insights to business leaders.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Relevant professional certifications may be required.
• Advanced education may offset some experience requirements.
