Job summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Delivery Manager to lead large-scale technology delivery engagements for strategic banking clients in New York. You will drive end-to-end delivery, financial management, client engagement, and governance across Agile and traditional models.

The role requires strong leadership, executive communication, and a proven track record in managing complex, multi-site programs within the Banking domain. Expect a competitive compensation package and global opportunities.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Delivery Manager to lead large-scale technology delivery engagements for strategic banking clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for end-to-end delivery, financial management, client engagement, operational governance, and successful execution of complex transformation programs.

This role requires a strong balance of delivery excellence, commercial acumen, people leadership, and client relationship management while driving predictable outcomes across Agile and traditional delivery models

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within NYC is $150k - $180k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role
Responsibilities:
1. Delivery Leadership
  • Own end-to-end delivery of multiple programs and portfolios within the Banking domain.
  • Drive predictable, high-quality delivery while ensuring alignment with client business objectives.
  • Manage delivery across onsite, nearshore, and offshore teams.
  • Ensure delivery excellence through structured governance, risk management, and execution discipline.
  • Lead large cross-functional teams across application development, cloud, data, digital, infrastructure, and AI initiatives.
2. Staffing & Workforce Management
  • Own demand intake, resource planning, and workforce forecasting.
  • Partner with recruitment teams to hire high-quality talent aligned with project requirements.
  • Manage onboarding, deployment, utilization, and employee transitions.
  • Optimize onsite/offshore resource mix to balance delivery quality and profitability.
  • Drive resource pyramid optimization across senior, mid-level, and junior talent.
  • Monitor utilization, bench management, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Build strong delivery teams through coaching, mentoring, and career development.
3. P&L / Commercial Accountability
  • Own delivery financials, including revenue, cost, gross margin, and profitability.
  • Manage project forecasts, financial planning, and revenue recognition.
  • Improve rate realization and optimize resource utilization.
  • Identify and eliminate revenue leakage through proactive commercial governance.
  • Monitor financial KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve margins.
  • Support account growth through solutioning, estimation, commercial proposals, and account expansion.
4. Fixed-Price / Outcome-Based Delivery
  • Successfully deliver fixed-price and outcome-based engagements.
  • Define and manage project scope, assumptions, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead change request governance and commercial negotiations.
  • Track burn rates, effort consumption, milestone achievement, and delivery commitments.
  • Protect project margins through disciplined execution and effective scope management.
  • Ensure contractual obligations, SLAs, and client commitments are consistently achieved.
5. Operational Excellence
  • Establish strong governance frameworks across programs.
  • Lead executive governance meetings and operational reviews.
  • Maintain delivery dashboards, KPIs, and performance scorecards.
  • Drive RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) management and timely escalations.
  • Improve delivery predictability through metrics-driven execution.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, compliance requirements, and organizational processes.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational maturity and delivery efficiency.
6. Client Relationship Management
  • Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for delivery and operational issues.
  • Communicate risks, challenges, and mitigation plans proactively.
  • Lead executive governance meetings and steering committee reviews.
  • Negotiate delivery priorities, scope changes, timelines, and commercial impacts.
  • Identify opportunities for account growth and collaborate with sales and practice teams.
  • Drive high levels of customer satisfaction through delivery excellence.
7. Banking Domain Expertise
  • Proven experience delivering technology programs for large Banking and Financial Services organizations.
  • Strong domain expertise in Wealth Management and/or Consumer Banking, including one or more of the following areas:
  • Auto Lending
  • Personal Lending
  • Credit Cards
  • Retail Banking
  • Consumer Finance
  • Strong understanding of banking regulations, governance, security, risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with banking delivery governance, stakeholder management, production support, and change management processes.
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments with stringent audit and compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of banking platforms across digital banking, payments, lending, commercial banking, wealth management, and customer servicing.
  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders to deliver digital transformation, modernization, cloud, data, AI, and platform transformation initiatives.
8. AI & Modern Delivery
  • Leverage AI and automation to improve delivery efficiency, estimation, productivity, and operational reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate AI-assisted development, testing, documentation, and project management practices.
  • Balance AI adoption with disciplined delivery governance, quality controls, compliance, and risk management.
  • Demonstrate credibility in leading AI-enabled delivery without compromising execution rigor or client expectations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 12–18+ years of experience in IT Services and Consulting with progressive delivery leadership responsibilities.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing large-scale Banking and Financial Services technology programs.
  • Proven experience managing global delivery teams across onsite, offshore, and nearshore locations.
  • Strong financial management experience with ownership of delivery P&L, revenue, margins, and utilization.
  • Experience delivering Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery programs.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, cloud technologies, digital transformation, enterprise application delivery, and modern engineering practices.
  • Experience managing Fixed-Price, Time & Material (T&M), and Managed Services engagements.
  • Excellent communication, executive stakeholder management, negotiation, and people leadership skills.
