Beer Capitol in Sussex, WI is now hiring for a Delivery Manager. The Delivery Manager role provides strategic and operational leadership for the delivery department. This role ensures products are delivered, merchandised, and presented in accordance with customer and job performance expectations, brand standards, and company policies. This position is responsible for executing effective delivery strategies; ensuring department supervisors maintain accountability of driver performance, service expectations, and training; utilize efficient decision-making regarding resource management; and develop and maintain strong working relationships with other business units and leaders. The Delivery Manager supports and drives a positive and productive work culture through the delivery team levels by using effective planning, communication, and teamwork. This position oversees location routing and logistics activities that form the day-to-day go-to-market strategy for the delivery team. The Delivery Manager will also consistently evaluate delivery tasks, customer service needs, staffing requirements, and available equipment resources.

Responsibilities

• Manage driver supervisors and the delivery team to ensure products are delivered accurately and on time, serving as an escalation point for issues beyond the driver supervisors’ scope.
• Collaborate with the Fleet Manager to ensure delivery equipment is well-maintained and operational.
• Lead the hiring and selection process for delivery personnel and manage department headcount, including seasonal personnel needs.
• Ensure all drivers and department personnel receive thorough and consistent role-based training by knowledgeable department leaders.
• Identify and implement improvements in delivery operations to include routing, customer service, staffing, and employee relations to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with company and regulatory policies (Safety, OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, Employee Handbook, and Driver Policy).
• Review and adjust delivery schedules daily in collaboration with the routing coordinator, ensuring efficient routes and balancing driver hours, mileage, and available help if needed.
• Work with department leadership to coordinate and holiday, off-day, and urgent delivery schedules.
• Act as a liaison between the delivery department and other departments, facilitating problem resolution and addressing company needs.
• Conduct and lead regular driver meetings.
• Monitor the operating and safety effectiveness of the delivery department using installed vehicle hardware (Lytx, Geotab), and provide any recommended changes, coaching, and accountability for trends and events deemed unsafe to leadership or department personnel.
• Assist with training personnel in the use of pallet jacks and other equipment, both within and outside the delivery department.
• Manage and approve department payroll, work hours, absences, and overtime accumulation.
• Identify and institute problem resolution strategies for both internal and external sources.
• Allocate resources based on company needs, assigning tasks beyond traditional department schedules.
• Oversee the annual performance review process for the delivery team.
• Develop and assign content for professional growth and continued education for delivery personnel.
• Perform special assignments as needed, potentially including after-hours issue resolution and management requests.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, including people leaders, and drive performance through effective coaching and mentorship.
• Ability to turn high-level strategic goals into practical, tactical initiatives that align with day-to-day operations.
• Proficient in analyzing operational data to identify trends, diagnose challenges, and drive improvements in delivery efficiency and labor utilization.
• Solid working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and other safety regulations relevant to delivery and retail operations.
• Strong focus on customer satisfaction with a commitment to resolving issues and delivering consistent, quality service.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
• Skilled in navigating operational and personnel challenges, making sound decisions quickly and confidently.
• Comfortable with having difficult conversations and applying strategies to coach up department leaders and personnel while balancing team accountability.
• Comfortable with route planning software (e.g., Bizstride), fleet systems (e.g., Geotab, Lytx), as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
• Flexible and responsive to shifting business needs, customer demands, and seasonal volume fluctuations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in logistics, distribution, retail operations, or related field, with supervisory or multi-unit leadership experience required.
• Beverage industry experience preferred.
• Class A CDL required.
• Strong working knowledge of route logistics, delivery operations, dynamic scheduling, resource management, and compliance regulations.
• Experience leading multi-functional teams and managing leaders.
• Proficiency in logistics software, Microsoft Office, and performance reporting tools.

Physical Requirements

1. Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 160 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Use arms, wrists, hands, grasp, reach.
3. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
4. Must be able to climb in and out, and/or on and off, power equipment used by the Frank Beverage Group to include commercial vehicles.
