Job summary

Texas Building Supply, a division of USLBM, is seeking a Delivery Helper in Texas to deliver materials to job sites, check orders for accuracy, organize and secure loads, and assist the driver in maneuvering on and off customer properties while avoiding damage.

You will report shortages to the supervisor, relay messages from customers, assist in loading/unloading and warehouse upkeep, and strive to provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with delivery, material handling and/or warehouse preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver materials to job sites and check orders for accuracy.

• Assist driver in maneuvering on and off customer properties to avoid damage.

Texas Building Supply, a division of USLBM, serving the major markets in Texas with five building material yards and one window distribution facility across Austin, Houston, Dallas-Ft. Worth and San Antonio.

A Brief Overview

The Delivery Helper delivers materials to job site, reports shortages and claims to supervisor and assists in loading and storing of materials. Success in this position could lead to other opportunities within the Driver, Warehouse and Yard functions.

What You Will Do

• Operate safely.
• Participate in a positive work environment.
• Check orders for accuracy.
• Organize and secure load.
• Obtain approval on all loads from supervisor for proper count and conditions of load.
• Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.
• Deliver and unload materials to customer's satisfaction.
• Follow guidelines from supervisor.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Assist in unloading material returned for credit.
• Relay messages sent by customers while on job.
• Assist supervisor, other employees and other work areas, as assigned.
• Assist driver in evaluating delivery site, noting potential hazards, obstacles, physical challenges, etc.; guide driver in maneuvering on and off customer's property to avoid damage as needed.

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience Qualifications

• Experience with delivery, material handling and/or warehouse required.

• Ability to do basic math, read orders, writes instructions and complete forms.
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
• Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
• Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
• Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).
