R10067775 Delivery Driver (CDL A) (Open)

Location: Kalamazoo, MI - Retail shop

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

As the "face of Airgas," the Delivery Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company-provided tractor trailer, straight, or box truck. This position involves loading, unloading, delivering, and returning compressed gas cylinders, with frequent interaction with Airgas customers.

Position Details

• Starting Pay: $29.00/hr
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (flexibility to work later if needed)
• Stops Per Day: 15-20
• Safety Quarterly Bonus
• Gain Share - Varying Amount

Responsibilities

1. Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to customer locations, record deliveries and pickups, and manage empty cylinders.
2. Establish and maintain good customer relations, addressing inquiries and complaints.
3. Communicate promptly with managers or sales associates about customer issues.
4. Perform cylinder inspections following operating procedures.
5. Maintain load manifests and vehicle documents, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines (DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, OSHA, SAFECOR).
6. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting deficiencies.
7. Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
8. Work in a warehouse or on a dock as needed.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Licensing

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid Class A Driver's License
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card
• Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications (or ability to acquire)

Experience

• At least 1 year of Class A professional driving experience within the last 5 years with a clean record, or equivalent from driving school.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Experience in gas, welding, or safety supply industry preferred.

Skills & Abilities

• Basic PC skills, familiarity with onboard computers preferred
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Ability to read MSDS sheets and communicate effectively
• High attention to detail
• Ability to operate forklift and handle materials safely
• Proficiency in basic math (units of measure, rates, ratios, percentages)

Physical Demands

Requires frequent stationary periods, traversing locations, active listening, computer use, and manual handling of heavy loads (up to 800 pounds with equipment). Must work in various weather conditions and work overtime as needed.

Work Environment

Local travel, indoor/outdoor work in diverse temperatures, possible DHS or NRC access, and environments with loud noises or odors.
