Job summary

Mead Lumber Company Inc in Kearney, NE is seeking a Class A Driver to safely deliver materials to customer job sites. You will load/unload, verify loads with the yard, and ensure on-time deliveries while upholding professionalism and accuracy.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, addressing customer questions, and maintaining yard order. This role requires strong customer service and ability to work in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Strong desire to learn and grow professionally.
• Ability to respond to issues quickly and handle them calmly and professionally.
• Ability to stand and walk for 4 to 10 hours daily.
• Proficiency with a computer and calculator.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Class A driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed.
• Drywall handling experience preferred with per-sheet stocking bonus.

• Organize and secure loads to ensure safe and efficient transport.
• Verify accuracy of loads with the yard manager before departure.
• Deliver and unload materials at customer job sites, ensuring satisfaction.
• Follow delivery instructions and ensure timely deliveries.
• Perform vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation.
• Record delivery information on the sales invoice and communicate customer messages from the job site.
• Obey all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating company trucks and forklifts, including wearing seat belts at all times.
• Adhere to yard loading and security procedures.
• Accurately process merchandise returns with a credit memo.
• Address and resolve customer complaints professionally and promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in assigned yard and areas.
• Assist with loading customer merchandise as needed.
• Must be able to work in ALL weather conditions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
