Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps Deli service areas well stocked and appealing at all times to meet customer demands. Smiles and greets customers, answers questions, and helps resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
2. Ensures freshness and proper condition of merchandise in display cases, with correct pricing and signage. Properly rotates products and handles spoiled or damaged items according to company standards.
3. Operates slicing equipment to provide meats and cheeses based on customer preferences. Packages items, applies price, weight, and date stickers, and prepares ready-to-eat foods for individual orders. Prepares platters of sliced meats, cheeses, and vegetable trays, using knives and utensils safely.
4. Adheres to company recipes and safety policies when preparing foods such as chicken, pizza, sandwiches, salads, and other hot or cold items.
5. May operate cash registers, following proper money handling procedures to prevent shortages or overages, and comply with laws related to tobacco and alcohol sales.
6. Responsible for sanitation within the department, following cleaning schedules and maintaining work areas, equipment, and display cases to meet health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
7. Assists in inventory control through proper handling, logging, and temperature practices to minimize losses.
8. May assist with cardboard baling and other duties if trained. Training provided.
9. May assist with receiving and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack if trained. Training provided.
10. Ensures smooth department and store operations by cooperating with coworkers and supervisors, and strives to improve job performance.
11. Utilizes all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, footwear, etc.
12. May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodations. Requirements include:

• High School Diploma or GED, or working towards one. No prior experience required.

RATE OF PAY AND BENEFITS

The hourly pay starts at $16.00 and can go up to $24.00.
