Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps Deli service areas well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands. Greets customers with a smile, answers questions, and helps resolve concerns politely and professionally.
2. Ensures freshness and proper condition of merchandise in display cases, with correct prices and signage. Rotates products properly. Handles spoiled or damaged products according to company standards.
3. Operates slicing equipment to prepare meats and cheeses based on customer preferences. Packages items with labels showing price, weight, and date. Prepares ready-to-eat foods and platters. Uses knives and kitchen utensils safely.
4. Follows recipes and safety policies when preparing foods like chicken, pizza, sandwiches, salads, and other hot or cold items.
5. May operate cash register, following proper cash handling policies to prevent overages or shortages. Complies with laws regarding tobacco and alcohol sales.
6. Maintains sanitation by following cleaning schedules and health guidelines. Disposes of trash properly.
7. Assists in inventory control, minimizing losses by proper handling and logging of products.
8. May assist with cardboard baling or other duties if trained. Training provided.
9. May help with receiving and storing deliveries using equipment like a power jack, if trained.
10. Ensures smooth department operation by cooperating with colleagues and supervisors. Seeks continuous improvement.
11. Uses all company-provided PPE, including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and footwear.
12. May be asked to assist in other departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
